Cover art for Hannah Jocelyn’s single, Won't Leave.

Challenge

I was approached by New York-based musician Hannah Jocelyn to create album art for her new single, Won't Leave. The song lyrics are abstract, but carry themes of all-consuming obsession, loss, and falling into disorientation.

Sketches

During the briefing, the artist expressed that she wasn't set on a single vision for the cover, so I had the freedom to present a few different directions for the project. I came up with four different options for the cover, pulling inspiration from the lyrics and sounds present in the song.

Solution

In the end, Hannah selected the third option for the final cover concept. She requested that I maintain the loose, organic quality of the lines in the sketch. Ultimately, I added a wash of blue to add depth to the final image.
